Visit to Norham for Turner Trail and Castle

3rd June 2019
We had an excellent visit to Norham.  In the morning we took part in the Turner Trail to celebrate his work painting in the North East and of Norham Castle in particular.  We had a short talk and watched a video about Turner's work and how it evolved over time under the influence of painting the light.

We visited the riverside spot where he painted and looked at how he used 'artistic licence' to compose his paintings.  We then went to the church where children's artwork was framed and displayed.  We were delighted to see four pictures from our school looking beautiful in the exhibition.

After lunch, we explored Norham Castle to begin our new topic on Castles.  Children will be doing follow up work on this over the following days.  Overall, we had an excellent and interesting trip and the children were fantastic.
