Rosh Hashanah - Jewish New Year

30th September 2019
We were very pleased to welcome Lydia into school to talk to the children about how Jewish people celebrate Rosh Hashanah and to explain why it is an important time of year for Jewish people.  She introduced us to the 'Find the matza' game as well as telling us lots of interesting facts and showing us some things that she had brought from home.

We also had a special snack time with apples dipped in honey (for a sweet and healthy new year), pomegranates and challah bread.  Margaret created a special lunch menu with honey glazed chicken and carrot tzimmes.  The older children had a go at making their own carrot tzimmes - they cut up the carrots into 'golden coins' for a prosperous new year.  It has been a memorable day and the children did very well in the quiz to show what they had learned!
