Beach Clean on Holy Island

15th March 2024
The children are very interested in how we can look after our world and the environment.  As well as creating films about animals at risk, counting plastic for the Big Plastic Count they walked the walk with a beach clean on the North Shore of Holy Island this week.

We are working with the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve and they supported us in organising a beach clean, we tallied what rubbish we found on the beach and weighed how much we were able to remove from the beach - it was nearly 25kg.  The children showed great resilience as the weather was a little wet and windy and they were delighted to have made a difference in this way.

Afterwards, we had an environmental church service at St Mary's Church on Holy Island where the children read their prayers and sang songs.  Thank you to Rev Sam Quilty for leading our service.
