Countryside Day

5th June 2025
A highlight of our week has been the school trip to Countryside Day on Thursday.  The children enjoyed a good range of activities and stalls throughout the day.  They particularly enjoyed the sheep show with dancing sheep and sheep shearing.  Some of the children had a go in the auction stand although they weren’t quite tall enough!    There was an excellent forestry section where they learned about how trees are cut down, stripped and chipped as well as what tree surgeons do.  They had fun at the Bedmax stall, learning about how every part of the tree is used.  Other favourites were the bee keepers with the free honey samples, the samples of venison sausages and planting trees with Cheviot Trees.
