Celebrating Judaism - RE afternoon

22nd October 2024

On our RE afternoon we explored Jewish food and celebrations in different ways:

  •  We worked together to make Rainbow Challah bread which is a traditional rich bread made with eggs and sugar which Jewish people eat at Shabbat or at celebrations and festivals.  We made the dough and plaited our bread to create the distinctive shape of the bread.
  •  We listened to traditional Jewish stories.
  •  We listened to Jewish folk music and learned a bit more about the meaning behind certain pieces.
  •  We learned a traditional Jewish folk dance to go with the music.
  •  We were able to carry out research using books about Jewish beliefs and stories.
  •  We were able to investigate a range of artefacts, identify what they were and how they are used before creating careful observational sketches of our favourites.  We could talk about what we had learned.

The children worked together really well and had a very successful experience.
