Engineering competition success!

26th May 2023

As you may remember, the children who work with Mrs Simpson in the mornings entered the ‘What Would an Engineer Do?’ Leaders Award national competition.  For this they had to come up with an engineering solution to a real life problem. To support this work they took part in an online interview with an engineer and then considered how we can tackle the problem of people driving into the water on the Holy Island causeway.

We sent their solutions off and the entries were read and graded by engineering professionals.  We are over the moon to let you know that the children did really well in the competition with many of them being graded ‘distinction’ for their efforts.  Two children, Max and Archie, have also been shortlisted to be North East entries to go forward to judging panels to select two winners in each age group and nominate any highly commended entries.  This is a phenomenal accomplishment and we are incredibly proud of all the children who entered.  We may be small schools but we can hold our own in national competitions.  You can find more information about this competition here https://leadersaward.com/
